I'm hoping that this social networking software can support the development of a robust and dynamic community of teachers and learners.  Thus far, the infrastructure seems to be there but I don't like the first impression.

It doesn't feel welcoming enough.  Instead, it is a formal, sterile demand for personal information.  I'm generally turned off by sites that require a lot of information.  Usually, I don't even like having to register to get whatever it is that I'm after.

It seems to me that there needs to be an intervening step -  a welcoming message that lets you know that you can add at your own convenience additional information to help the community get to know you.  It would also be good to have more information about the community, who is here, what its main purposes are, the benefits of being part of the community, etc.

I don't mean to be too critical.  This is a great idea that could be a major source of help in all kinds of areas.  It just needs to be friendlier, lower key, more welcoming, and reveal more about what is to be gained.

the supreme court seems to have ruled that louisville and seattle public schools cannot use race to diversify their schools, but at the same time, the decision did not completely rule out race as a factor in some cases. what do you think about this decision?
